20th Anniversary Celebrations!

2013 sees Wythenshawe Community Initiative celebrate our 20th Anniversary. WCI is a truly local charity and was the brainchild of local residents in 1993 who were concerned about the high level of need and lack of resources for families in Woodhouse Park. Supported by the local minister a steering group was formed and Wythenshawe Community Initiative (then known as Woodhouse Park Family Centre) was born. Since then we have gone on to support over 4,000 families and created employment opportunities for 44 people, as well as countless volunteering and sessional positions.

We hope you will agree that this is a fantastic achievement, particularly in the current funding climate, and we are planning to mark this success in a number of ways throughout the year.

FUNDRAISING APPEAL

We are also launching a 20th Anniversary Fundraising Appeal – aiming to reach £20,000. You could help us achieve this target in the following ways:

  • Sponsor our Commemorative Booklet (see below for more details). This will reflect on the successes achieved over the previous 20 years. It will be used as a tool to raise the profile of the charity and inform a wide range of stakeholders about our valuable work. It therefore provides a brilliant opportunity for your company to display its support and commitment to a local charity that is really making a difference.
  • Donate items for our 20th Anniversary Raffle or Auction to be drawn at the October Celebration event.
  • Provide volunteer support or other in-kind help for one of our 20th Anniversary events
  • Promote our 20th Anniversary fundraising campaign to your friends, family or employees

If you want to find out more please contact us on 0161 498 0292 or email info@whpfamilycentre.co.uk.

COMMEMORATIVE BOOK

We would like to put together a collection of stories from staff and users, both past and present, as a way of showing what impact the organisation has had over the years. If you have been involved in the organisation in any way over the last 20 years we would love to hear from you. It would be great if you could take some time to write a short piece about your memories and experiences of your time at Wythenshawe Community Initiative/Woodhouse Park Family Centre. Below are a few questions to get you started, but feel free to write about anything you want. Any photos you may have would be great too. You can email your story to info@whpfamilycentre.co.uk
